the ONLINE CORRESPONDENCE meme

Our characters are best friends, close acquaintances, or even lovers! But there's a catch...they've never met in person! Be it skype, AIM, plurk, livejournal...they know each other only through the internet and that's the only way they are able to talk. Some might say internet friends aren't real, sometimes the distance hurts, but you wouldn't give them up for anything in the world. 1. A/S/L? - You've only just met and are working through that awkward phase of getting to know each other.

2. Tough times - It's late at night and you can't stop crying...they're the only one you can turn to. You only hope they're actually there.

3. Video date - It's the weekend and you want nothing more than to spend the night with the one dearest to you...by which you mean booting up Skype and starting a video call.

4. Where have you been? - They've been AFK for a long time and you were almost worried they'd forgotten about you...or worse, something went wrong.

5. Closing the distance - You've known each other for years, the cards are looking good, and you want to pop the big question...do you want to meet?

6. I wanted it to be you! - You never knew specifics about them, and never knew until now that they were somebody you already knew in person. What an unexpected surprise!

[Chris is out of town visiting his family, but that doesn't mean he can't call back to Birchpointe.

Which is precisely what's going on. His day's winding down, and it's time for he and Fluttershy to meet online so he kicks back, opens up his laptop, and logs in to the messenger.]

[One might wonder how a remote cottage in the woods even gets internet, but hey, anything is possible when one is friend's with a lord of chaos. Plus, having internet does make it easier to do some things. Like keeping in touch with people who are farther away than Birchpointe. While she was busy during the day herself, the evening was set for some online time to chat with Chris. And hearing the chime of the messenger, she grabs her laptop and settles on her bed.] ClosedButtercup: Hey!

[He grinned, seeing her online and the first chat window pop up.]

MorningWoods: Hey! How're you doing?

ClosedButtercup: I'm doing all right. How about you? How was your day?

[beingthecreature]

MorningWoods: My day was alright. Hung out with a couple of my cousins for a while. We all played a game of soccer with some of the others.

How about you?

ClosedButtercup: That's good! Sounds like you had fun. ClosedButtercup: It was all right. I was mostly just taking care of animals around the cottage. There was someone who was camping in the woods today, though, and I invited them over for tea.

[beingthecreature]

MorningWoods: Oh yeah? Who?

[strengthinkindness]

ClosedButtercup: There were two people, Ember and Trym. Ember hasn't been in Birchpointe for too long, so she had wanted to see a bit more outside the city, so Trym was showing her around.

MorningWoods: Oh, Trym? Mr. 'Embodiment of Irish Rain'?

ClosedButtercup: Oh, you've met him?

[beingthecreature]

MorningWoods: Once or twice yeah, a few years ago. Trym gets around

[A few beats before another message pops up.]

MorningWoods: Not like that.

[strengthinkindness]

ClosedButtercup: *giggles* You know, not EVERYONE automatically goes down that line of thought.

MorningWoods: No, but considering your conversation partner I thought it'd be a helpful clarification.

[strengthinkindness]

ClosedButtercup: True enough, I suppose. He did have a lot of stories about the places he's been, though. ClosedButtercup: How did you meet him?

[beingthecreature]

MorningWoods: Actually, one of my other friends put me in touch with him, while I was studying his particular kind of magic. We had a few good talks, I got some great notes, parted as friends.

[strengthinkindness]

ClosedButtercup: Oh, that's good. He does seem really nice. I hope I'll get to see him and Ember more too.

[beingthecreature]

MorningWoods: Yeah, Trym's awesome. Can't go wrong with that guy.

[strengthinkindness]

ClosedButtercup: Yeah. Hopefully you'll get to meet Ember sometime, too. She's really interesting. ClosedButtercup: So how much longer will you be away?

[beingthecreature]

MorningWoods: I hope so! I'd like to.

I'll be away for a few more days, at least. It's my uncle's birthday Saturday so we're gonna throw a big party. I'll be back after the weekend.

[strengthinkindness]

ClosedButtercup: Ah okay. That does sound like fun. [A slight beat.] ClosedButtercup: I miss you, though.

MorningWoods: I miss you, too. I'm glad we can do this.

Don't worry, I'll be back soon.

ClosedButtercup: I know. And I'm glad we can do this too. ClosedButtercup: But it'll be nice having you back home.

MorningWoods: Aww yeah, I can't wait.
