[The Heartthrob was just getting ready to open by the time Cadence was coming home from class. She had a long day and it was going to be longer still when she had a test she absolutely had to study for tonight. If Choral canceled on them again she was going to personally hunt her down tonight and punch her.
She still had a block to go after she stepped off the bus - the routes were never convenient no matter where she was going. But before she'd even gotten halfway there down the sidewalk, her heart started to suddenly thump faster, no longer matching the rhythm of the music she'd had on her iPod. In fact, it didn't match the rhythm of anything, slowly getting faster and faster.
Oh no...oh God not another one.
They never got any better no matter how often it happened. Cadence could only quickly duck into the alley to brace herself against the wall before she was blinded by the white hot pain in her chest, her rapid, seizing heart rate thudding in her ears. Her body shook as she leaned on the wall, struggling to breath in deep, shuddering breaths through her teeth, one hand clutching at her burning hot chest, squeezing the fabric of her tshirt tight as her other hand dragged down the wall, leaving fingernails scratches in the brick.]
